Back on Manual

Despite a grueling tennis afternoon (I don't think I can move now....), I remembered to put the camera on the manual setting and used my 'go to' outdoor dog setting: 1/2000, f/5.6, ISO 200 (I was using the 17-85mm f/2.8 lens).  It's amazing how much more detail comes out when the exposure is right - and how much less editing working there is, too!

Operator Error

For reasons that remain shrouded in mystery (or possibly because I was tired after our bike ride today), I shot all my doggie photos using the shutter priority setting.  Which is not always a bad idea, but with a shutter speed of 1/2000 and a sunny afternoon, most of my shots were over-exposed.  I really should have shot in manual, with a 1/2000 shutter speed and an f/5.6.  Oh well.  Thanks to the magic of Lightroom, I'm able to make the photos look Just Fine.

Gotta love Lightroom magic!

Yet More Dog Photos

Because, really, you can never have too many dog photos.

Dorkadoodle in her native habitat.

Definitely half Retriever (and half Schutzhund - just kidding - she just likes to protect her tennis balls from Abby!)

Tennis ball zoomies!

Happy girl!

With her hair cut, you can really see that Fi is a medium dog wearing an XL-size dog suit!  Possibly she's part Shar Pei.

Shifty-eyed nekkid puppy!

Objects Are Closer Than They Appear

Yes, I got some doggie photos (shocker there, huh?), but if I had to pick one photo for the day (and for the 'strict' Project 365ers - which I am clearly not - that is how the photo-a-day thing is done), this would be it:

Those clouds might be closer than they appear, but they didn't rain on us during our bike ride!

But since I'm not just a one-photo-a-day person, here are a few gratuitous doggie action photos:

It's a bird!  It's a plane!  It's SuperDoodle!

More Nekkid Doggies

I didn't get a lot of photos today (where 'not a lot' is less than 100), due to the usual Sunday errands and rain later in the afternoon.  However, I did get a chance to get a few shots of the girls in action.  They seem to be flying around the yard without their extra floof.

Fi was doing her Pele impersonation, bouncing the ball off her head...

Abby also decided to give me the opportunity to get a few close-ups.

Goofadoodle in her native environment.

Pretty girl!

Rodents and Nekkid Dogs

Yes, the key word searches from that title will be entertaining.  As noted in the last post, the girls were getting rather shaggy, so today was grooming day.  And now we have nekkid doggies.

Abby's editorial on the grooming process.
While neither dog really loves the grooming experience, they are cooler, and clearly more aerodynamic.

So I think the girls were happy when it was all said and done.  (And I was happy when it was done!)

Now we have nekkid girls.

And since it is the weekend, I put out some more food for the rodents.  Not only did the rodents enjoy themselves, but it provided much entertainment for the girls (if barking at squirrels and chipmunks is entertaining, and apparently Fi and Abby find it to be so).

In case you were wondering, the bird feeder is doing a grand business, but I didn't have enough time/energy to groom the girls, photograph rodents AND sit out and photograph birds...

Shaggy Dogs

I think Fi is getting a little shaggy (not to mention hot).  And she's losing her eyeballs...

Doing her best Old English Sheepdog impersonation

Hot, shaggy dog.
Abby's losing her eyeballs, too.

I think haircuts may be in the near future.
