Project 365 - Day 151

A couple of photos from the walk.

I don't like photos of the moon just hanging in the sky - they just aren't that interesting to me (unless you can make out every single detail on the moon). I like seeing the earth-moon connection.

So, I pretty much had to stop in the middle of the road to get this photo, before the moon was hidden behind the hills.

And speaking of hills, I see stuff like our marmot friend, and the moose, and other things mostly by seeing that the 'usual' view looks different.  I couldn't pick this guy out from a distance; I just noticed that the marmot hill looked different that usual.  The view from this hill is beautiful, and definitely a good meditation spot.  (The girls did not interrupt him.  At least I don't think they did!)

And, of course, there were photos in the yard.

Daisy continues to show that she was paying attention to Fi when Fi was doing her supermodel thing.

And, the sisters continue to show that they are *such* sisters!

I don't think Daisy can see, and I don't think she cares!

Such sisters!

Project 365 - Day 150

So many photos today!

First, we saw our marmot friend on the walk today.

Then I thought I would get some photos for Betty of some of the flowers that are in bloom.

And I thought I was good for the day, but the girls had other ideas.

First, Lucy-Fur had to make sure that the world knew that she has sort of learned to pose, too.  (She doesn't quite have the regal posture that Fi had, and that Daisy is finally display, but she's young still!)

I am certain that my father would ask why I hadn't removed the grass on Lucy's snooter in the last photo, so I thought I would anticipate the question, and provide a version of the photo where the grass on her snooter has magically vanished!

And then, the girls decided it was time to some bitey-face action.

Which quickly turns into the complete crazies, and leaves me wondering if I can find Van Helsing's phone number...

And also has me wondering if Lucy-Fur needs braces!

And then we get to the virtual dental exam portion of the action...

They really like showing off their pearly whites! And I really like this photo because if you look closely, you can see some of Lucy-Fur's floofs in Daisy's teeth.

Such sisters!

Project 365 - Day 149

It's tough when the anti-gravity field is on the fritz.

Daisy was definitely struggling with gravity today!

Lucy-Fur did still manage to look cute, though.

Project 365 - Day 147

Back at the animal shelter!  Today they only had 10 dogs, including a 3 month old puppy (I'll be surprised if he isn't adopted by tomorrow afternoon), and some seniors.  As always, it was great fun and it always lifts my spirits, and gives me a sense of purpose.  Only a few of the dogs - I'll post a couple more tomorrow.

This is Ben, the puppy.  Silly, cuddly, and very puppy-like.  Always a good way to start!

This is Buddy.  Don't fret about him; there is a special needs rescue that is already arranging a foster home for him.  Buddy, however, convinced me to bite the bullet and buy a ring light (just because the LED can be quite bright but won't completely blind the staff who are facing the lights).  Partially blind dogs (and seniors, and dogs who get spooked by thunder and lighting, and just nervous dogs) don't really like the flash of the strobe, and I've been thinking about getting some continuous lighting that I could use at the shelter and also for photos when Gary and the band is playing at the house.  Buddy was not a fan of the strobe, so he was the one who pushed me to get some continuous lighting to use at the shelter.  Thanks, Buddy!

And this is Pawla Deen (yep, that's the name they gave her).  She did better than the shelter staff expected (she was a little nervous) and so I didn't push it with too many photos (another dog who might have benefitted from continuous lighting rather than a strobe).  But she was such a sweetie!

Another good day!

Project 365 - Day 146

Our neighborhood hawk was out, but I wasn't fast enough to get a good photo, but this wasn't terrible.

A bit further up we saw a helicopter coming in for a landing.  I had seen on Nextdoor (where you can discover how truly nuts your neighbors are, and where, if there isn't at least one post a day about people speeding, you assume the internet in the neighborhood is out...) that utility poles were being installed in Summit Park (the neighborhood just west of us at Parley's Summit), and because of the terrain in the neighborhood, the utility poles would be installed by helicopter.  When I zoomed in on the photo in Photoshop, I could just barely make out the name on the helicopter - Mountain West - and it turns out that that company does, in fact, specialize in Carrying Heavy Objects by Helicopter.

In other excitement, our buddy Larry was doing some stuff around the yard (pruning things, clearing leaves, all that stuff), and he offered to mow the lawn (which, if you recall, was rapidly transforming from a lawn into a dog-swallowing jungle).  Being a princess (and a busy princess at that) I was more than happy to let Larry mow the grass.

The girls were most appreciative of the freshly shorn lawn.

 Thank heavens for Larry!
