Project 365 - Day 164

Some photos from our walk.

One of our neighborhood marmots.

Some flowers.

And our neighborhood hawk.

Just a couple of photos from Lucy-Fur's birthday celebration, as the cookies didn't last very long!

It's a good thing I have fingers left! *grin*  And neither lady wanted to actually pose with the cookies!

Project 365 - Day 163

Lucy-Fur turns 4 tomorrow. Four?!?  It seems like only a few weeks ago that she was a wee bitty puppy.

And yet, she's a real adult. A fluffy, ridiculous, Muppet-looking thing, but an adult!

I bought an LED ring light to use at the animal shelter with dogs who are freaked out by the flash, and I thought it would be good to try it out when I got some pre-birthday birthday photos.  The light has a diffuser so your subjects aren't blinded by the LEDs, which is cool, and I'm happy with the amount of light I get with it.  We'll see what the shelter dogs think!

"I'm getting snacks for this, right?"

Such sisters!

No, really, such sisters!

Muppet!

They've almost got synchronized paw cross-age!

Happy almost-birthday, Lucy-Fur!

Project 365 - days 159-161

Day 159 Tuesday - June 8th

A few photos of the girls in the yard.  This not being able to get low to the ground is getting old, but I'll be able to get back to my old self soon!

Day 160 Tuesday - June 9th

If you don't want to read a short story of the Circle of Life, just move on to the photos.

Just scroll on down.

Daisy caught a squirrel on Tuesday.  This was most definitely a far left tail of the bell curve squirrel because Daisy is *not* a hunter.  Nor, apparently, is she a killer. She did drop it in spite of (not because of) my hysterical screaming (never helps, but what can I say?), and Lucy-Fur dispatched it with alacrity. She was fascinated as a puppy when she saw Fi take care of a left tail of the bell curve bunny, and practiced Fi's technique on all the stuffies in the house at the time. Honestly, I'm glad Lucy-Fur took care of it, as it didn't suffer and she really reminded me of Fi in her efficiency.  Don't fret on behalf of the squirrel - it would have been picked off by a hawk - and Daisy and Lucy-Fur only did what dogs do.

The girls.

The Doodles.

A very shaggy Doodle.

Ever the optimist!

Day 161 Thursday - June 10th

The very shaggy girls were made much less shaggy today.

Less shaggy, but no less crazy!

Project 365 - Day 158

So, here's how I got the photos for the grooming business on Saturday.  (Using one of my 1950s Pony Kodaks for demonstration.)  Forgive the weird angles of the photos - I didn't want to re-adjust my tripod!

Hi lunge for bigger dogs and standing humans.

I can't remember what this one is called but it is tough on the quads.  But my back is straight!

Modified gate pose for short dogs.

And yes, I had part of an old yoga mat with me to kneel on.

And while this seems like a gratuitous tree pose, the one-leg balancing poses have been handy for putting on my socks (although I lean up against a wall when I'm putting on my socks!).  Yay for yoga!

Project 365 - Days 154 - 157

Still recuperating from my lipoma removal; who knew I bent, twisted, and otherwise used my back so much?  I'm honest worn out at the end of each day - mostly because of 40+ extra lunges on each leg that had been added as a way to get to stuff on/near the floor.  (I could ask Gary, but his back his bothering him, and what good is all this yoga if not for doing lunges and gate poses and one-legged standing postures (to put on socks)?!?)

Day 154 (Thursday)

Not very good photos of a different neighborhood marmot, so I'll only post one of them!

Day 155 (Friday)

Since I am unable to mow the grass, Larry helped out by mowing the grass when he came over to do some other stuff. Not only was it extremely helpful and nice of him to do it, but the grass was getting long enough that I was a little worried we were going to start losing the dogs!  The girls were also quite appreciative of the freshly shorn lawn.

Fluffy Princess surveying her domain.

Just seeing if the little Nikon could get a sunburst.

Day 156 (Saturday)

I take photos for the girls' groomer every quarter.  She likes to get updated staff photos (she has a grooming apprentice program, so when those people graduate she gets new trainees and new staff photos) and she like to gift her staff with photos of them with their furry kids.  I like these photo shoots - it's always nice to see the groomers with their own dogs - and we usually shoot in some pretty spots around Park City/Heber.  I didn't get instant mobility on Saturday so I brought a mat to kneel on and ended up doing lots of lunges and gate poses (I'll see if I can do a gate pose tomorrow so you can see what I mean).

The place we shot yesterday is part of the "middle Provo River" and is apparently quite the haven for fly fisherpeople. It's a natural area with a fast flowing river (at this time of year), lots of trails for people and pets, and LOTS of bugs.

And the first groomer brought her personal Galactic Overlord!

It would have been nice to get a bit lower to the ground for this stumpy-legged cutie, but I managed to get somewhat low to the ground!

On our walk in the morning I was able to get a flower photo for Gary's mother, because who doesn't want flowers when you are in the hospital?

Day 157 (Sunday)

I was really wiped out from the evening photo shoot on Saturday, it was hot (88F in Heber - apparently it was almost 100F in Salt Lake) and buggy.  I photographed 7 different groups of groomers with their dogs and spouses, and I was REALLY wiped out. So all I managed to photograph today was my Sunday road photo.

Everything is greening up nicely!

Project 365 - Days 152 & 153

I'm a little slow in getting these posted; I had a very minor procedure to remove a lipoma (fatty lump) from my back Tuesday afternoon, and I'm moving a bit slowly.  I'm also a bit light on photos!

Day 152

Day 153

The surgery site to remove the lipoma is very inconveniently located - right at my waistband, near my spine (no concerns with it being near my spine, BTW - the lump was just fat, disgusting looking, big, and benign).  So, it's tough to actually get comfortable sitting at my desk, sitting in bed, and I can't bend at the waist because we don't want the stitches to get pulled out.  So, my yoga consists of meditation and 'mountain pose' (standing up tall), and because I have to do lunges to get to anything near the ground, I'm going to have quads of steel by the time the stitches get removed in 2 weeks!

Some flowers from our walk

It's been warm and is getting warmer - the snow on our mountains has pretty much vanished.
