Project 365 - Day 108

Only a couple of photos today (another weekend where I had to work...)

Do you remember the old cartoons (I'm thinking of Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd), where the "hero" tries to stop the villain by rolling a small snowball down a steep slope, and by the time it gets to the "wabbit hunter" it is a ginormous snowball that takes out Mr. Fudd?  Well, this isn't anything so "elegant", but that's what these 'snow wheels' always make me think of.  (I don't know if they are actually called snow wheels, but that's what I call them, so there you have it.)

And I've started taking photos from roughly the same spot on our walk every Sunday, because I like to see the seasons change.  Here's today's photo.

And last week's photo.  If I was really clever, I'd figure out how to get the exact same angle every week, but I'm not that clever yet!

Project 365 - Day 107

A few photos from this morning's walk.

A non-hiding moose.

The snow on the trees will be melted by tomorrow's walk.

And some crazy dogs.

Project 365 - Day 106

A bit more snow this morning...

But, the sun finally came out this afternoon, and I was able to get some profile photos of Daisy.

And a photo of Lucy-Fur strolling through the snow.

And my eye was caught by the pile of toys unearthed from the snow (before the latest snow!).

Project 365 - Day 105

All that snow we got yesterday? Well, we got more overnight, and it set up, so our 2' of snow turned into about 14 inches of wet, heavy snow. And the girls had a grooming appointment this morning, so Gary had to go out at o'dark-thirty to clear the driveway...

Note the amount of daylight that creeps into the photos. That should give you a sense of how big a job this was...

But, Gary finally managed to clear away all the snow, we got in a walk, and the girls were at the groomer's on time. And they look quite stunning, and much less scruffy!

Project 365 - Day 103 & Day 104

So, Day 103.  Warm, windy, and almost all of snow has melted.  Which meant that Daisy felt the need to roll around in the dead grass.

I'm not sure if she could have picked up more dead grass if she had tried...

Full-body shake.

The blonde, fluffy thing chose to mourn the melting snow.

And then Day 104.  The weather changed just a wee bit.

It was snowing, but not really sticking to the roads when we started our walk.

Not too far into the walk we encountered one of our neighbors walking his two puppies, Luna the Husky, and Nova, the Golden Retriever.

Crazy Golden Retriever puppy! Cute, but crazy!

Shockingly, the Husky was the better-behaved of the two!

The snow started to move in a bit more as we continued on our walk...

By the time I was done with work today, we had almost 18 inches in the backyard.  Wet, heavy snow - lots of water content, which we desperately need.

No, she didn't catch that - she just picked it up out of the snow...

Flying Black Dog!

I have a bunch more snow zoomies photos, but not enough time to go through them all tonight!

But, I think these two days are a very good summary of April in Utah!

Project 365 - Day 102

A sure sign that ski season is over!

These are actually really old skis, and probably should have been thrown out a decade ago, but given that Park City resort closed yesterday, it was a funny sight to see!

Another sign that Spring is here - the chipmunks are mocking Daisy again!

Demon dog!

She looks so innocent, and yet she just finished rolling around in the dead grass, and digging little holes in the yard for reasons that are classified at a higher security level than I have!

Bitey-face on one of the last patches of snow in the yard!

Project 365 - Day 101 + Birthday Photos

Not all the photos are taken by me, hence the title.

So, yeah, today I turned 50 years old.  I had the inspiration last night to break out the 'milestone' board I used for Lucy-Fur's 1st year.  Then I thought it would be sort of fun to include it in some yoga photos, as this last year has been a journey, adopting a healthier lifestyle, exercising more, practicing yoga more, just "getting my act together" as some might say. I've also lost 38 lbs since last year, which is definitely something worth celebrating!

Tree pose. I was more of a "quaking aspen" when I started doing yoga again about 10 months ago, and some days I'm still an aspen, but generally my balance is better.

This one is, for me, quite impressive. When I started my regular yoga 10 months ago, I couldn't do a side plank for long, and I was pretty wobbly. Being able to lift my top leg has taken quite a while. To me, this represents how much stronger I've become in the last year.

And if you couldn't read the milestone board, here's a close-up of it!

I could create multivariate models a year ago, but the tree pose (and the side plank)? Not so much. BTW, in the 'I love' list, Gary was happy to be listed ahead of the car!

The girls "helped" with yoga this morning.  And be 'help' I mean made sure I wasn't asleep!

Other than yoga, what did I do today? Well, we took the beasts on their regular morning walk.

And then we took a drive up to the Uintahs, and stopped at the Samak Smokehouse again to get some beef jerky, some jerky for the dogs, and a sweatshirt, since I live in sweatshirts!  No photos from the drive (I actually got to drive!), but we had happy dogs.

And, there was cake!  I purchased a small (4" diameter) chocolate cake from Whole Foods, thinking that one's 50th birthday should involve cake.

I wasn't sure what I was going to be getting, but how bad could a double chocolate layer cake be? Turns out, it was quite tasty!

The cake was small - there are only 2 of us, and since the whole healthy lifestyle thing does include chocolate cake, but in moderation, small is good. Of course, the candles barely fit on the cake, but they fit!

The cake and the aforementioned Samak sweatshirt. And a very interested doggie. (No cake for her - this was not a dog-friendly cake. But they got jerky!)

Quick! Light the candles before they fall off!

And yes, I made a wish!

It was a most excellent 50th birthday - and thanks for all the nice birthday wishes!
