Project 365 - Day 52

So, you remember the photo from yesterday with Black Dog attempting an escape from Alcatraz?  Here's a refresher.

Seriously contemplating making a run for it.

So, I decided to dig a "moat" around the fence line. It's not that I had nothing better to do with my time, but it seemed like digging the moat would ultimately take less time than trying to track Crazy Black Dog down when she's up the hill in the snow.

Photographically, hard to get a sense of what the moat looks like at ground level. But trust me; the top of the fence is now quite a bit higher than the bottom of the moat.

The moat, from above.

Yes, I'll have to dig it out again when we get more snow (but I think I have a week before significant snow comes in), but still better than trying to track down Crazy Black Dog.

And before all that, a few photos from our dog walk today.

Not really what I saw in my mind's eye, but I really like this huge yard and their rustic fencing.

Moose! We actually had to take a detour on our walk because further up the hill there was a larger moose on the side of the road eating breakfast.  We circled back and went to see if the moose was still there (coming from the other direction).  She had moved to the road and I might have attempted a photo but I didn't want the dogs disturbing her breakfast.

I think light snow on a mostly sunny day is a magical sight.

Whatever they are doing, it's got the interest of both of them!

And a few yoga-interruptus dog photos!

Any time I can give a dog a hug, I do.

Lucy-Fur, I bow down before you!

Project 365 - Day 51

I didn't get a lot of photos on the walk today, and I wasn't happy with the few action photos I got of the girls (I was a little too worried about Daisy discovering that if she wades through the snow to the back of the yard, the top of the fence might be accessible...)

In all fairness to Daisy, she didn't make an active attempt to get over the fence, and did come back (eventually) when I called her, but I don't trust that black dog!

So, I thought I'd get a few photos in the studio. I didn't take a lot of time to set things up, but I was using my super snooter shooter (actually, the really wide angle lens, so more like the super-super snooter shooter) because ginormous snooters make me smile.

And Daisy really isn't bigger than Lucy-Fur, she just sits closer to get snacks.  (She know how this whole model thing works!)

"Lucy, the trick is to always watch the snacks."

They look so innocent. And such sisters.

Look at that ginormous schnozz!

Oooh. That is totally the, "Lady, hand over the snacks and no one gets hurt" look from both of them.

Project 365 - Day 50

More snow today - not a lot, but enough to attempt more snowflake photos.  Still not what I want, but I still think I should get credit for the snowflake being on a dog.

I didn't take a lot of photos as I had one of the non-weather-sealed cameras, and it was snowing.

But during my lunch break (hey, just because I'm working from home doesn't mean that I can't take a lunch break - I don't have to eat while chained to my computer all the time...) I took some photos of my surroundings.

First, to set the stage, the office.  As organized as ever! And Mom and Dad, since I wanted some "office ambiance" I not only have my framed PhD behind the desk, but also my Phi Beta Kappa certificate.  Maybe one of these years I'll actually hang them up and not just prop them up against the wall!  The ring light is for the yoga photos - the area where I do yoga is to the viewer's right.

I like seeing Fi when I come up into the office.

But on to the lunch break photos of guitar stuff upstairs.

The Electra that hangs above the entrance to the office.

Guitar cases. Lots of guitar cases.

Even more guitar cases.

"Mom, are these guitar cases edible?"

And speaking of yoga photos, I *really* like the ring light for brightening up the space - and for making the photos better.  Now I just need to work on my yoga!

Communing with one of my yoga buddies.

Lizard pose. Some days it feels great, some days it's a wonder I can get back out of this pose. Today it was a combination of both.

Plow pose.  Needs some work, but is actually more comfortable than it looks!

Project 365 - Day 49

As I mentioned in the previous post, I anticipated today to be a crazy busy day.  Even with one meeting rescheduled, it was still a very hectic day (any day that involves driving to Heber twice to take the dogs to the groomer and picking them back up again is guaranteed to be hectic).  But, my morning yoga is sacrosanct, and since I thought it would probably be the only photos I would get, I got some yoga photos.  Rather than giving you a whole bunch of yoga photos, here are my favorites.

This one could use a bit more of a downward angle, but since Lucy-Fur doesn't often visit me during yoga, I had to take what I could get.

"Hey, Mom, you aren't doing that quite right..."  And then the wee little fluff executed a perfect downward dog, and then began snoozing.

"Don't worry, Mom. You are still the third best yogi in the house."  My children are such comforts!

However, without meeting #2 today, I was able to get some photos of the freshly laundered mutts in the backyard.

Project 365 - Day 48

I actually did take these photos yesterday, but I had a busy, busy day yesterday.  I was supposed to have two meetings today, and the girls had an appointment at the groomer's.  So, I spent all of yesterday and last evening preparing for meeting #1, and then after a short walk this morning I took the dogs to the groomer and then had meeting #1 (for which I was fully prepared, thankfully!) and during that meeting found out that meeting #2 was postponed until next week, which gave me a bit of breathing room to be more fully prepared for the meeting.  So, that's my excuse for not getting the photos out until today.

Photos from yesterday's walk. We got another 8-10" of snow (and we need all the snow we can get, since last year was so dry, the water is much appreciated).

Which mean that we left nifty tracks in the driveway.

I like this one not just to show the depth of the snow, but I like the shadows, too.

This didn't quite come out the way I had hoped, but it still is a nice 'sights of the walk' photo.

It alternated sun and snow most of the walk.

More snow-packed roads, more dogs who weren't happy to have boots put on their feet - until we got out on the walk, and then they didn't care.

And with all the snow, there was, of course, snow zoomies and bitey-face.

Project 365 - Day 47

Today was a Donner Party day (but no one ate anyone else, and we had plenty of snacks, so it was just a lot of walking through the snow...)  We had gotten about a foot of snow overnight, so the girls were decked out in the pants and boots, and we were dressed for snow (it snowed most of the walk).

"How many more miles to California?"

Snow and sun. Go figure.

"Can we have some snacks, please?"

Did I mention that it was windy and snowy? At least blowing snow isn't quite as bad as blowing sand.

With all the snow blown onto the sides of this house, it looked like it needed to be a sepia photo.

A brief break in the storm. Very brief. (It was still snowing.)

Today's walk required a step up from the Yaktrax - ice cleats today.

And when we got home, some of us had to head up to the office to get stuff done for work, while others of us had to dig us out.

And, it's snowing again tonight, so new adventures await tomorrow!

Project 365 - Day 46

We were out on our walk early today, and the couple of pictures I got of some deer far, far away weren't all the special.  If you are dying to know about our walk today, look at yesterday's photos but darker, and snowier.

I did a bit of yoga after our walk because my feet and legs were tired.  Which my explain my odd obsession with my feet in the photos I took this morning.  I mean, in hindsight, feet?  I do ask a lot of my feet, so I probably should honor them with some photos.  Or at least more massage, but I do sort of wonder what I was thinking.  I'm going to go with the whole "seeing something different" mindest.

Non-crossed crossed-legged seat.

My view of my feet when I'm in downward dog.

And moving into child's pose.
Did I mention foot massage?

Part of the yoga video I was doing involved a "relaxation" portion, so I'm relaxing. I was tired.

Actually, I was just following Daisy's lead.

Complete sacked out.  When in doubt about taking a nap, ask yourself what Daisy would do.  (She'd take a nap. Unless there was a sister one could wrestle with near by.  Although after our walks, they both sack out.)
