Project 365 - Day 196

Animal Shelter Day!

It was a hot day in Salt Lake, and I am pretty fried after the morning dog walk, working, and then heading down to the shelter, so I've only made it through a few photos tonight (and I have to go back to the Collective tomorrow and will be turned back into a Drone (yes, resistance is futile*), so I probably won't finish the animal shelter photos until this weekend.

Little dogs tend to get adopted really quickly, so we don't get a lot of photos of them because they don't really need them.  Still, we like to get them for the 'adoption wall' of photos.

This is Pinto.

And this is Mick.

And Burr, who is helping with my birthday photo card effort!

Alas, time to pack my lunch for tomorrow, find some clothes to wear (apparently shorts are still not acceptable office wear), and see if I can find my ID badge (I actually think I know where it is).  It's going to be very weird not having furry co-workers.

*If you are a Star Trek fan and have seen the Next Generation or Voyager, you'll know of what I speak. If not, and you are dying to know, check this page out, and if you aren't dying to know, just think of Daleks.  They're close enough. And for those of you who know both and think this comparison is heresy, well, that may also be true.

Project 365 - Day 195

Wednesday, 14 July 2021

On Wednesday I finally met up again with a family that I've known for years.  In fact, Winnie the Poodle was a wee puppy when we first met, and I photographed Winnie and her much older brother Lucky. Winnie and Lucky were the first clients I ever had, so they've always been special to me.

A young Winnie the Poodle

Lucky, who was already 11 or 12 at this point.

Fast-forward 7 years, and Lucky has long since gone to his great reward (I saw him several more times after our initial meeting), but Winnie is doing quite well!

She now has a younger brother, Brummie, who is quite handsome, and not at all demonic, unlike other black dogs I might mention.

Winnie also had a houseguest, River, who is owned by the lady who bought the Dog Dive (where Fi used to swim).

It was a great visit, and now we'll be putting together some photo albums of Winnie and Lucky and family.

Project 365 - Days 193 & 194

Day 193

"Just" some dog photos.  😇

A few photos with the Pansonic so it doesn't feel unloved!

Day 194

Larry had the unenviable job of removing the guitars from the wall, dusting them, and then once I got photos of each guitar, putting them back on the wall.  I don't know how Larry manages the ladders with such ease - I get nervous just watching him!

The girls were helpers in this whole project.  (Well, they thought they were helping, which is mostly the same thing!)

Which sort of brings me to this.  I was trying to get the sticker on the back of the head stock.

I was shooting with my 35mm f/1.4 lens, and it is not a macro lens.  Which had the interesting effect of when I moved in too close to the sticker on the back, the camera picked up Lucy-Fur reflected in the metallic sticker.  Sort of cool and quite unexpected!

Larry was quite happy to be done with this project, and I was quite impressed with the whole adventure.

Good thing that doesn't have to be done for several more years!

Project 365 Days 188-192

No great surprise, but "vacation" this week ended up being really busy (I took the week off to work on some programming classes so I'd be more efficient in some of the larger projects I'm working on.  However, I made a bunch of progress and learned a bunch of stuff that will actually help me on my latest Project From Hell, so that's good!)  Anyway, here's the quick update.

Day 188 -  Wednesday July 7, 2021

You can never go wrong with the Super Snooter Shooter!

Day 189 - Thursday July 8, 2021

Sunrise.  We've been getting some interesting sun rises with all the smoke in the air.

Day 190 - Friday July 9, 2021

Yoga photos from a different perspective. I'm not sure I like the different perspective, but it's different!

Day 191 - Saturday July 10, 2021

As I mentioned, we've had a fair amount of smoke in the air, and yesterday afternoon it was hazy enough that the sunlight was red rather than the yellow you would expect.

And did I mention that the smoke made it quite hazy?

Day 192 - Sunday July 11, 2021

It was still quite smoky this morning (smoky enough that we elected to shorten the walk a bit).  According to the local news, this smoke isn't from local fires, but primarily from fires in Idaho and California (not that that makes our air quality any better...).

Project 365 - Days 186 & 187

Day 186 - Monday, 5 July

I didn't get a lot of photo yesterday, as I was too busy setting up and modeling (and proving beyond a doubt that I never attending a finishing school, or learned deportment, how to gracefully model things, or any of that...)  These photos aren't mine, as Gary pressed the button on the camera, although I got it all set up.

But I did get a couple of photos of Daisy, just to spare everyone my complete lack of modeling abilities.  And Mom and Dad - your rugs are still a big hit with the entire family!

Day 187 - Tuesday, 6 July

Today was another toasty day; it's a wonder the girls didn't melt.

Or maybe they did melt...

Actually, I'm not sure if Lucy-Fur hadn't stuck to the ground a bit.  Or maybe she's just a fan of the ground assault tactic...

Project 365 - Day 185

Another hot, "I moved to the mountains to get away from the god-forsaken desert in which I spent my childhood, and I should *not* be hearing the Lawrence of Arabia music that plays when they cross the Nefud Desert as we are walking the dogs" kind of day.  Okay, I might be a wee bit overly-dramatic, but seriously. It was 88F in the shade, according to our thermometer.

Okay, so maybe Jeddah didn't look like this. Ever. But I've become more of a princess in my old age!

Nasty thistles.

The girls weren't really interest in any high-speed activity today after the walk.  There was a lot of wandering around to the shady spots of the yard, and half-heartedly barking at perceived interlopers.

Pay no attention to that crazy black dog behind me. She doesn't want her snacks anyway; you can give hers to me. She told me to tell you that.

Slightly before they decided going inside was a good idea.
